For the past few months I am writing with Triond - I had noticed that this site is one of the most fast searchable sites ever created at World Wide Web. Google, Bing, Yahoo and other imaginable search engines can prove my testimony - a reason I see why Triond had become vulnerable for plagiarism too!

A while ago, I was with my Internet surfing when I accidentally spotted to one of my articles published at socyberty.com on April 25, 2011. This article was about Internet Threat and it was also published at Word Worlds.Blogspot.com on the same date under the authorship Putra Bloging. He/she did not add and changed any additional contents on my work only my authorship was deleted. In the bottom section of the article, he wrote his copyright name Bazza1972 25 Apr, 2011 and under it is the source of the article.

As I digged down his site, I also found other articles published there which are familiar to me that were already published on some of the websites powered by Triond. I copied them and included them in this article – who knows you are one of the authors for the following articles I listed below.

Normally, I blushed though still I had controlled my temper. But before leaving from his site I left a short comment, I quoted them said, “Thank you for featuring this article in your site. It meant so much to me. At least now I know that there are more people out there who loved my silly thoughts and my stupidity. I appreciate it.” I used my blogger pen name “King of Herbs”.

I can say now that Triond is really a remarkable site ever created and a prone site for plagiarism too!

What We Read From The Internet are 100% Plagiarized Pieces

Published on Socyberty, Mar 22, 2011 Category – Education

Today, I admit that the idea I injected for this article is the result of my foolishness. It was said that Plagiarism in some contexts is considered theft or stealing but from the point of view of the law, it is a non-existing concept. Plagiarism is not mentioned in any current statute, either criminal or civil.

A number of reasons I see that will prove that what we read from the Internet are 100% plagiarized pieces. This might include too of our original writings published on our blog sites and other paying sites. As I always said, don’t take this seriously. This is only a warm up guys.

Now I will ask you to analyze this statement: When we say original works - it is created or invented works by as being new respectively (from the first stroke of the point till the last stroke of the point to finish it), and thus can be distinguished from reproductions, clones, forgeries, or derivative works or it is a created work not received from others nor one copied based on the work of others.

Secondly I will ask you to browse or surf the Internet. Look for an article to read about any subject topic. If you can do so read it twice or as you like. Then copy a sentence from that article. Be sure that it has a subject and predicate with punctuation.

Assuming that the sentence you copied for analyzing is found from this article you are reading now and it is the title I used here “What We Read from The Internet are 100% Plagiarized Pieces“. How you can prove it that this sentence I used for the title is plagiarized? Now analyze the sentence.

To help analyze the sentence look the following:

    • The letters I used on that sentence
    • The number and other characters I used
    • The punctuation I used
    • The words I used to form the sentence

    Next ask yourself the following:

    • Did Pruelpo know about letters before the English Alphabet was invented?
    • Did Pruelpo know how to form a word from letters before the English Alphabet was created?
    • Did Pruelpo know how to use punctuations before the English Alphabet was invented?
    • Did Pruelpo arrive before the invention of the English Alphabet?

If your answers are “YES” to the above questions – it means that the article you are reading now is not plagiarized.

The fact is – the letters, words, numbers, punctuations and other characters needed for our awesome writings are plagiarized from those people who first invented them. They were invented hundred or thousand years ago, available in dictionaries, encyclopedias and other learning materials! Your views and opinions are welcome.

Plagiarism is Not a Crime--how About Copyright Infringement

    Copyright infringement

    Image via Wikipedia

Published on Socyberty, Feb 23, 2011 Category – Education

Plagiarism is not a crime but is disapproved more on the grounds of moral offence.

While Copyright infringement is a violation of the rights of a copyright holder, when material protected by copyright is used without consent.

Speaking of crime it is about the breach of rules or laws for which some governing authority can ultimately prescribe a conviction. Moral here is pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong. For details about my subjects visit these links: simultech.org, cracked.com and plagiarism what happens.

I can still remember, when I took up my creative writing with The Writers Bureau in Manchester, London in 1999 and Journalism and Short Story Writing with the ICS (International Correspondence School) Pennsylvania, USA in 2000 – my tutors told me that titles and ideas have no copyrights – that means anyone can use them.

Also I was told that copyrighted materials after at least 75 years starting the day the author died can be considered as domain materials. And domain materials can be used by anybody that include the Holy Bible and Fairy Tales.

But when I referred them to an encyclopedia the definitions of Plagiarism and Copyright Infringement are far beyond of what I have learned from my tutorial schooling. Does it mean my tutors were liars?

Anyway, to avoid from plagiarism and copyright infringement charges – one should ask first the permission or authorization from the copyright holder of copyrighted material and give credits to the authors for their original works.
