Labor Offices and The Labor Disputes Committees

And these committees are considered as special courts to study the labor cases and make decisions in accordance with the Labor Law. These committees are:

Preliminary Committees for Settling Labor Disputes.
High Committee for Settling Disputes, which has a number of division in the Kingdom's regions.

There are (37) thirty-seven labor offices located all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia distributed within its regions and most of its districts. Every worker may approach any of these offices and inquire about any issue relating to his/her work relation with the employer in order to be enlightened as to his/her obligations and rights.

When to Terminate The Work Contract

In Saudi Arabia, the work contract signed by the worker and the employer is terminated if the said contract specified period has ended. Likewise if both parties agreed to terminate the contract provided that the worker approval should be in writing.

To terminate a contract - it must meet the following reasons such as:

The employer and the worker may terminate the work contract which do not has a specified period, due to a legitimate reason after notifying the other party in writing (30) thirty days before termination.

The worker should not be dismissed from work without a justified reason. In case the worker was dismissed without a justified reason, he/she may approach the concerned labor office within two weeks of termination.

When the worker contract ends, the next presumed step is for the worker to return to his/her country after receiving all entitlements. If the employer did not commit to deliver all the workers entitlements, the worker should report this to any labor office located all over the Kingdom.

The instructions state that any worker can not obtain a travel visa unless the employer submits a proof that the worker had received all his/her entitlements.

However, the employer may dismiss the worker without a prior notice in any of the following cases:

The worker impersonate a fake personality or a nationality, or had submitted false certificate or documents.

If the worker was under the probational period or prior to the end of the probational period.

If the worker intentionally or negligently made a mistake in which a sizable financial loss inflected on part of the employer, provided that the employer reports this to the concerned agencies within (24) hours as of the time the employer knew about such mistake or neglect.

If the worker violates the instructions of work safety or place of work.

If the worker did not care for the main duties on his/her part according to the work contract.

If the worker was legally convicted or sentenced by a court for a moral crime or an offence that affects honor, trust or morals.

If the worker discloses any secrets of the establishment in which he/she works.

If the worker assaults the employer or the responsible manager during working hours.

If the worker was absent without a justified reason for more than (20) twenty non-consecutive days or (10) days consecutive days during one year.

I Passed The Test: Time to Cheers

From the time I started sharing my articles at Wikinut, my writing has improved . This year 2011, I published 200 articles. There are 17 articles I wrote about Saudi Arabia – this includes my personal experiences in the Kingdom. Another 9 articles about Business and Business Opportunities. And then another 46 articles about writing – this includes my personal experiences, humor, guides, tips, jokes, true stories, short stories, funny stories and poetry. And another 12 articles about health, general health, wellness, managing health care, alternative medicines, diseases and infections, diets and nutrition.

I also had written articles about religion and other affiliations, columns and opinions and news and entertainments and so far I published 15 articles. And then I published 10 articles about family, parenting, teenagers, education, languages and relationships. Also 8 articles about money, money saving tips and making money and another 7 articles about history, culture, social trends, nature and plants. In addition, also I wrote 40 articles about reviews of websites, social networks, and book marking sites, web marketing, emails, blogs and blogging.

Also I wrote 7 articles about fiction writing and 10 articles about science, math and numbers and numerology. I also published at least 11 articles about philosophy, logic, Ethics and reasoning. These include also 8 articles about celebrities, people, music, performers, artists, singers and authors.

Approximately 511 days to write my first 200 articles at Wikinut under the following categories: Articles about Saudi Arabia, Business, Writing, Health, religion, Opinions, News, Family, Money saving tips, History, Reviews, Fiction writing, Science, Philosophy and Celebrities. It took me Five Hundred Eleven days looking for ideas and additional information to support my articles. Now I can say I passed the test and it is about time to CHEERS!

Five Hundred Eleven Days on Writing My First 200 Articles at Wikinut

For over a year now I am writing at Wikinut, I honestly can tell you that the site is an awesome place for your online writing activities. Some of Riyadh Treks to Spend Your Weekends and Holidays

In Riyadh there are places outside the city which are good places for excursions like the Hidden Valley, the Red Sand Dunes and Mountain Rocks for your mountain climbing.

In my first week of work in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – one thing that came to my mind was to take some trips outside the city. I wanted to visit some of the historical places, including mountains of rock and mountains of sand dunes, which are good places for excursions on weekends and holidays.

It was a Friday. With my peers, we visited on some of Riyadh’s treks. First was a trip to Hidden Valley. At five-thirty in the morning, we started our trip as no-one wants to drive under the sun.

On our way to Hidden Valley , I saw mountain of rocks standing robustly on each side of the highway. I heard the sound of winds haunting, and whispering in every corner of the mountain – calling them that the King Sun was about to rise.

Facing to the South was another spot of great beauty delighted my eyes, a red mountain of sand dunes that resembled a maiden in red, lying down with the mountain rocks at her sides and waiting for someone to come and feel her beauty.

At seven, we reached our destination, by passing through an isolated pass between high fortresses – like rock in the Tuwaiq wall. Our cars rumbled up and down with the shrubs to right, left and white dust. As we drove up the soil – covered path of the Valley between piles of gravel, was a Pinnacle Valley that called because of the pillar of rock that stands near the entrance. We stopped driving when the track got rough.

Soon, everybody left the car and went around to the area and embraced the beauty of nature. We photographed the mountains around us as our souvenirs. We also went for a hike, did some mountain climbing and had a lot of fun together.

What a wonderful place to see! I was surprisingly amazed to see such beauty that only nature can provide. Hidden Valley can easily charm you and let you believe that this place is not just a desert of sands but also a place of beautiful rocks and mountains ready to be embraced and enjoy. Most amazing of all was the absence of running water, to bathe her for added beauty. A completely dry valley but yet a surprisingly beautiful one!

How to Avail Credit Card in Saudi Arabia

For an expat, to apply credit card in the Kingdom is not really a hard job but it takes time to get the needed documents. First, he has to get the approval of his employer about his plan to avail a credit card. If approved he will now request his employer for the certificate or an endorsement letter regarding his monthly pay. If his employer approved his request on the spot, the needed documents will be released immediately with the company and KSA Chamber of Commerce seal stamps but if not, he has to wait when his boss is available and comfortable to approve his appeal. Sometimes it takes weeks and months to wait.

What is Iqama? This is an Arabic word for Residence Permit. It is the most important document that an expat in Saudi Arabia should bring with him every now and then. It justifies him that he is not an alien and he is legally working with the company that hired him in the Kingdom. It is an Identification card that caters all the information about him. It is needed for any imaginable transactions that he will transact inside the Kingdom. Without this there will be no transaction to happen between him and the bank.

Why Passport is needed? The bank will need it to record the following:

His country of origin
His nationality
His name and other information found in the passport

The correct and complete names are important for the bank. If his name written on his Iqama is not the same what was written on his passport, it could be the reason for rejection. Bank needs the passport for comparison with the certificate of his monthly pay to help correct the error.

How important is the endorsement letter of his monthly pay? Through his monthly pay, the bank will determine if he will qualify to get a credit card. Aside from it, the bank will record the following important information such as:

The justification of the company or employer that the person is his legal employee and the name written on his Iqama and the name written on his Passport is the same person.
The number of years that the person has been working with the company and his work assignment.
The location address, contact numbers of the company/employer and the employee.
The total amount of the person’s monthly basic salary, monthly food allowance, monthly travel allowance, monthly housing allowance and other allowances.

When the applicant has already completed all the necessary documents, he will now see the bank and fill up the application form completely with his best choice option such as: unlimited credit or limited credit and submit it with the copies of the documents together with the original documents as the bank needs them for comparison. Usually, the applicant will wait at least ten to fifteen days before he will receive his credit card with important instructions, agreements and some confidential policies of the bank. Sometimes it takes 30 days or more to wait.

Credit cards are convenient and can also save you. Using credit card is a very convenient way to pay for your purchases – if you have the discipline to stay within budget. You need not to carry cash all the time and you get to keep a good record of your expenses. However, you must always keep the copy of your signed slip or the proof of payment each time you use it to keep track of how much you have already charged it. Always pay the full amount of the bank statement every month. If you do it there will be no interest charge. This is using the credit card as a simple debit card.

The Kingdom's Residence Permit

In Saudi Arabia if an expat or a worker is caught by police officers or Muttawa without Iqama or Residence Permit he will face different charges against him such as: illegal entry, evader, alien, spy and a terrorist. And he might be sent off to jail for further investigation and if his company will ignore and will not work for his release, he will be sent off back to his home of record.
Iqama is the most important document that an expat or a worker in Saudi Arabia should bring with him every now and then 24/7.
Iqama is an Identification card that caters all the information about the person. To apply for this Residence Permit one should submit all the requirements needed to process his Iqama such as:

his passport
his company contract with the attached of his working visa or working permit
other endorsement papers signed up with his employer with the stamp of the Company approved by the Saudi Arabia Chamber of Commerce
his photos
Sometimes the applicant is asked for finger prints
and his blood type

After he submitted all the necessary requirements, the personnel at Iqama Department or the Ministry of Interior will now start in en-coding all the data in the computer found from those documents he submitted after that his Iqama will be processed and it will take him at least two to three days to get his Iqama.
The purpose of Iqama is not only as a Residence Permit it is also use for the following purposes:

To apply for driver license
To apply for marriage license
To remit money in banks
Needed for translations of English documents to Arabic
And other imaginable transactions that the bearer will transact inside the host country

Iqama fees vary. If the applicant will apply for it for one year – he will pay only 250 Saudi Riyals. For two years is 500 Saudi Riyals. According to the Kingdom’s Labor Law, Iqama expenses should be shouldered by the employer not by the employee. However, there are wise and clever employers who charged their employees for Iqama applications and renewals.

Greetings of Condolences Flooded Riyadh, KSA

The Royal Court said, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is in deep sorrow and grief as he officially announced about his brother and faithful Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, who passed away at dawn, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 after suffering from an illness abroad.

According to media reports, the 86 year old Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud had been battling cancer for some years and had been seeking medical treatment in the United States since June 2011. He is thought to have died in a New York hospital at dawn on Saturday morning. The funeral prayer will be performed for the deceased after Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh on October 25, 2011.

Western sources claim that Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud known as Sultan Al-Khair was born in 1924. He was the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. He served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Aviation. Prince Sultan was first in the Saudi line of succession. He was born in Riyadh. Now the former Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has gone but his memory is still alive in every hearts of those people from around the world he helped to hit their dreams come true from Pilots, Aviation Electricians, Aviation Mechanics, Aviation Computer Programmers and Operators down to Janitorial jobs – who maintain the safety, orderliness and cleanliness of the military bases in Kingdom.

How Does Saudi Arabia Combat Electronic Crimes

Every country has the rights to combat electronic crimes. In Saudi Arabia, where I am working as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) the (SC) Shoura Council approved the law and submitted it to the (TITC) Telecommunication and Information Technology Commision.

The English Dictionary defined Electronic crime as any criminal activity involving the use of computers, as the illegal transfer of funds from one account to another or the stealing, changing, or erasing of data in an electronic data bank. This includes: (1) Email spamming (2) Email hacking (3) Money laundering (4) Plagiarizing of other works (5) Copying/stealing of copy righted materials (6) Supporting terrorists activities (7) Hacking into government networks (8) Stealing information related to national security of any country (9) Destroying values or public ethics (10) Advocating vice and immorality (11) Advocating drug usage (12) Publishing pornographic materials (13) Installing viruses that damage its facilities (14) Using the Internet to harm other (15) Advocating how to make explosives.

Some people looked at them as human rights violations without realizing that they are also protecting their human rights respectively. In Saudi Arabia it is now the job of the Telecommunication and Information Technology Commission to detect violators and if found guilty they are subject for prison sentence and fines.

Triond Website is Now Restored to Public in Saudi Arabia

I feel better now and happy indeed that Triond is now reopened in Saudi Arabia after the eight days from being restrained on March 28, 2011. I have no idea what was the reason why it was blocked. Today at around 3:40 PM Saudi time, the site was set free.

For eight days I was totally isolated from the rest of Triond users. I could not access the website by using my desktop/laptop computers including net-cafe computers. I can only accessed Triond when I used my mobile phone for some updates. With my mobile phone I replied to some of the comments for my articles though my time was so limited and I could not visit my friends pages too. I am sorry guys.

During those days of longing my Triond dashboard, I did not just stop from there. I consulted Google about the problem. I even brought the problem too to http://getsatisfaction.com/triond/topics/triond_website_is_blocked_in_saudi_arabia to inform Triond. Not only that I also wrote a short blog http://pruelpophoto.blogspot.com/2011/04/triond-website-is-blocked-in-saudi.html and shared it to Twitter and Facebook.

I quoted ”Triond helps thousands of people around the world to earn online through sharing their awesome original articles. Now I am confused. I am puzzled as well – Why Saudi Arabia blocked triond? I would wish that Saudi Internet Regulatory Department can read this short message. And I would ask them to check out the site www.triond.com and at the same time to re open it to public. I am one of Triond’s Contributors. Articles that are published on the different websites powered by Triond are definitely informative and educational pieces.”

How to Overcome Fear and Doubt

The fear and doubt are some of the human weaknesses. They can cause failure – in our love life, our daily life and our dreams to come true.

Not long ago, I attended training and seminar at Olaya, Riyadh City hosted by the Daxen Diamond Team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The said training and seminar are free to enjoy by all its Daxen members and distributors here in KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and also for all the Daxen members and distributors around the world.

The main topic of the event was about DOP (Distributor Orientation Program). It was really interesting topic to listen to. Anyone can be benefited from absorbing the idea and knowledge feed by mentors including those who are not Daxen members and distributors - as anyone can use it for his business and other things he does and for self-improvement.

One of the mentors emphasized the following question – How to create positive mental attitude that we can use and apply not only for business purposes but also for our daily life as well - regardless of professions, affiliations and life styles?

According to him, there are three reasons why most people failed from doing business and from other things they do: (a) fear from rejection, (b) fear to fail, (c) fear from nothing.

He said, “To create positive mental attitude a person should work hard to overcome Fear and Doubt by doing the following: (1) change his attitude – from negative to positive thinking, (2) he has to adapt good learning attitude, (3) have strong belief to himself, (4) should adapt the 100% level of commitment, (5) he should focus on his goals with enthusiasm and (6) he should be prepared for discouragement.”

He further said, ”In business it does not promise him success unless he does his home works and hard works. There must be labor before the reward. He should plant before he can harvest. He will sow tears before he can reap joy.”
